Beautiful decorative mini xylophone that actually plays - great price
Very pretty was my 1st thought. Originally purchased because my 11yr son is a beginner percussionist & he’s been learning marimbas so I thought this would be good for him to just practice. With the price being so low, I bought 2 so he could teach others to play. Once received, these are so small, they can’t be an instrument but more a decorative item. Does produce different sound per key & can be played as such, xylophone or marimba, etc. Could be a great teaching tool, kids toy, practice piece for beginners, or simply a nice decor piece for music lovers or your fav music / band teacher. But do be aware of what you’re buying here. My pic has a ruler to show you the size of the sticks as well as the item. Yes, I’d buy it again. Beautifully designed & crafted. Price is really good for the item. I could see these going for double as a novelty in a music shop.

Incredibly interesting percussion INSTRUMENT
This is a very beautiful percussion INSTRUMENT. It is truly an instrument. Maybe the word ‘xylophone’ is misleading to some. It is a percussion instrument not a xylophone. If you are looking for a typical rainbow steel ‘xylophone’ then this isn’t the piece for you. If you are seeking a unique percussion instrument to enhance or begin your appreciation for international percussion differences, this is an excellent choice. Makes a perfect gift for a percussion professional, teacher, or enthusiast. Makes a great student/child teaching piece (world cultural instruments, not twinkle twinkle little star), but it is most certainly NOT A TOY. This is something to put somewhere special, use for percussion, and a great conversation piece. The science alone of how the different tones are formed from different sizes and elevation of the wood adds to conversation, learning, and percussion appreciation. The color is beautifully dark and it came wrapped very carefully.

Looks 👍 sensory 👍 sound ☹️
Sure looks beautiful but the base is so small so it tips over very easily and also the bars are not in tune. The last four sound exactly the same and they don’t sound at all like an instrument. I might as will just be tapping my wooden table. However it is very beautiful and if you tap the sides it makes a very nice percussion instrument. Very hollow and crisp “ Tok tok” sound.. For the price and the purpose I bought it for(A sensory gift for a blind girl) it works, or if you just want it for decor it’s beautiful! ... but if you’re wanting to use it as a real instrument, don’t bother.

Tiny, really tiny and you may as well say refundability looks questionable at best.
I should have really read the reviews for this thing, if I had I would not have bought it. First of all looks like you may only g we t a partial refund if you try and return it, and I doubt return shipping is free. It is a very pretty item with decent carving but it is very small and as others have mentioned only a few of the keys make any real sound so playability is not an option either. basically it is a $30.00 decoration at best. I WOULD NOT reccomend this product, BUT on the bright side I can make a larger duplicate of this that works correctly, and probably charge double for it, and mine won't fall over when you try to play it. BOTTOM LINE... Save your money and make your own!

An interesting decorative item but it is not really a serious musical instrument.
Since I have been into numerous musical instruments the last ten plus years (Harmonica, Kazoo, Flutes, Recorders, Irish whistle, various kinds of hand drums, and other percussion instruments) I am always seeking unusual or exotic musical instruments. I recently purchased this decorative 8 bar Xylophone (Thai teak wood, Thai traditional musical instrument) from Amazon for a bargain price. It is really NOT designed for playing and in fact attempting to play it was counterproductive at best; however, it is a beautiful decorative piece that looks great on one of my shelves so everyone can see it when they come into my place. If you are seeking an exotic looking Xylophone produced and sent from Thailand you may want to check out this interesting and unique product. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Strong construction!
This item came in after going through what I would assume to be package hell. The "box" was delivered to me covered in a plastic bag with a label that said it was received damaged by the post office. I really feared the worst. i opened up the box and though there was plenty of mold on it, the product barely had a scratch! The striking hammers were even fully intact! After a good cleaning with diluted bleach water, I have it resting on my windowsill to dry out after being most for so long. The design are beautiful and this thing is made of some strong and thick wood! The tuning is a bit out, but I am pretty sure it just need to dry a bit. This will be a great centerpiece and I look forward to playing on it for a long while. For 20 dollars, this is an amazing purchase!

Sad and Sadder
First - the instrument was sent in an ENVELOPE. Not even a well-padded envelope. The instrument was tightly and inadequately wrapped in a thin layer of bubble wrap. A goodly portion was wrapped in just sticky tape and it's been a full day of scrubbing with Goo Gone to try to remove the sticky from the instrument where the tape adhered. Ick. I may never get the sticky off the wood as the wood is unfinished and the sticky has penetrated deeply. Second: The sound is not good. The hollow sound board beneath is too small to resonate properly even if the keys were porperly tuned - which they aren't. The best you can get is the sound of wood banging wood, with no note progression. All the keys but one sound the same: clunk clunk clunk. Only one half-hearted note hovering between a C and a C flat if you strike the key right. The rest have no actual notes, just wood banging wood, like a toddler banging their wooden blocks together. It might please a toddler. If used in a ritual, except it to summon chaos, holding its ears and moaning "Why? Why?" Third: I guess it would make a pretty conversation piece - but NOT if you want to demonstrate the sound, which it doesn't really have. Don't buy this as an instrument. It's not a musical instrument at all. It's a dust collecting carving. At best.

Había leído algunas malas reseñas acerca de este producto en relación a su funcionalidad, a sabiendas de esto lo decidí comprar como adorno. Al final no pude ni verlo porque me cancelaron la compra

Great decoration. The sound is beautiful and I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I assume most are from people expecting a North American xylophone (this is not an American instrument and the notes are not the same nor the same note structure). Solid little item that is roughly the length of a large dinner plate. It was well packaged but in a box way too large which allowed it to move freely (luckily the delivery company handled it with care). The packaging left room for it to break if it were tossed around, so I suggest using more size appropriate boxes in future shipments as one half the size would have worked.

It has 8 keys. Individually, they sound like 2, maybe 3 notes at most. If you run across all of them, it's easier to tell the difference. The strings holding the keys can be tied or untied. I might have tied it incorrectly, but it didn't come with instructions, so I'm not sure. Overall, worth the less than $20.
