Just a great, great game. Brilliant.
This may literally be the best tabletop game experience I've ever had. I was not a big Ticket to Ride player but I had heard from a number of friends how good this game was. My family plays games together (on the more complex side) even though my girls are young. This game is just the perfect family mix - it's challenging without being a brain-burner. It starts simple (similar to the base game) and gets more complex with each chapter. There is variability that is thoughtfully controlled by which map expansion is chosen next and there are clever (and subtle) catch-up mechanisms built in. The Legacy aspects are so much fun. Everyone loves opening the blind boxes and learning what new rules and components are to be added. It's a dozen installments - the first one took ~2 hours and as we are nearing the end, the more complex chapters are probably 3 hours. It's an pricey game but it's a LOT of entertainment that we really look forward to coming back to. Compare the value of this to the same time spent watching some Netflix series - there is no contest. Just a great, great game. Brilliant.

Excellent design, plays great, kept the family entertained for all 12 game sessions!
Great game, very fun and the first legacy game I have actually gotten my family to complete with me. Legacy games are always a bit confusing to start and it can be easy to overlook something between games when adding stuff so take you time. I recommend this Ticket to Ride whether you've played any other Ticket to Ride before it. The mechanics that are added in are just interesting enough to keep it fresh but not overwhelm you each game. Well thought out design!

Great Legacy game for 12 game nights with the same group
This is my second box. I enjoyed the first playthrough so much, I bought it for my grandkids and another one for me with a different game group than the first time I played. Follow the rules, discuss them to make sure everyone is on the same page and don't peek ahead. Each session is a new game with enhanced mechanics so, by the time you are in the 12th game, the board and strategies are seriously more engaging than the standard Ticket to Ride. I love Legacy games and this one is a great one. We think we might play it again after the campaign to see how that works but my vote is to just keep buying new copies - cheap entertainment if you think about it.

A summer vacation campaign of fun and laughter!
I’ve been a fan of TTR for a long time - but this takes it to a whole new level. 12 games. Starts off simple. But as the map expands so do the possibilities. Circus animals! A ghost train with curses! Shares! A gold rush! Rule book keeps getting added to allowing this to get quite complex but as it’s one step at a time it’s very manageable. Played with kids aged 14 /16/18 and another adult and we all had fun and each of won at least one of the games once. The mechanic is clever - you don’t know who is ahead until the very end. Yes it’s expensive. Yes it’s cardboard. But some of these games stretches to 2 or 3 fast paced hours. So 30 hours of entertainment for five people for $100 is a bargain - that’s like one trip to the movies. It became the center piece of the first half of the summer - a great excuse to get people off screens and sitting down together and create some inside jokes and common lore (ask us about Lewisburg). Highly recommended as both being strategic and fun and as a bonding experience for a group. Wonderful.

Possibly our favorite board game of all time!
Disclaimer: we have yet to play the final, stable version of the game after the campaign but from the finalized rule book it looks great! In terms of the legacy campaign, This is an absolutely incredible take on Ticket to Ride. As relatively casual gamers, my wife and I had a great time over a week’s span playing the campaign in small spurts. The new rules each chapter, while complex like all legacy games, were easy to follow and included a variety of fun side-quests. We also appreciate there are several alternate endings in case we wanted get a new set to play again from scratch with our kids (too young now!) or friends. My only qualm is we need to know when the next version (Europe please!!!) will come out!

Clever and fun!
Very fun! The twists and turns at each campaign keep it fresh and challenging. Clever design. High quality components too. Great that you can use the game board after the 12 campaigns are over. My 91 year old mother enjoyed playing too!

Great Game
Love the legacy version. We have ordered it twice. We learned the 2nd time that you can play it again and again after you are finished and now that is all we play. I love this game!

A Novel Variation on the Original
For "Ticket to Ride" fans: It takes a LONG time to play this 12-round game. It takes the best of the familiar and adds new twists an turns. Wait until you see California!

This game is so much fun! If you haven’t played a Legacy style game before, prepare for a great time. It can be confusing remembering all the new rules, but the rule book makes it easy to go back and check or remind yourself. We are halfway through the 12 games and dreading when we finish all 12 as we’ve had so much fun playing this!

Worth every penny. The best board game I’ve ever played. Hubby and I spent a long weekend playing this legacy version. It would spoil it for you if I told you anything about what the gameplay involves but don’t think I’m not just bursting at the seams to tell you. Don’t worry, no spoilers in this review. If I’m on a desert island this is the game I want with me. Although this legacy version does not require you to have previously played other versions of Ticket to Ride it for sure does help in understanding the game and make for a better overall experience. I’d recommend Europe version and/or Rails & Sails for best value for money and best boards. This Legend of the West board although seemingly expensive is also most excellent value for money. At the halfway mark I already felt I’d gotten good value for money with this version and we still had hours and days worth of play left before the campaign ended. Well thought out gameplay with beautifully designed cards and gorgeous artwork in general. If you forced me to find a negative I’d say the cheap plastic trains let the overall presentation down. I think we all would have appreciated train cars with a bit more style and detail. But it’s a nit picking point and if I’m honest I own a deluxe set of trains in all the colours so I personally got to play the game with much nicer trains. It’s not however enough of a point to lose any stars over. Everything else about the game more than makes up for their poor error in judgement on cheap train cars. Awesome game, don’t think twice about the money, it’s really a bargain.
