Review: Brilliantly written & put together - I have recently started to use this book to help me learn and I have to say I am super impressed. So much so I am about to order the next one. I am a complete beginner and this is so well written, explained and the short videos, making it visual too, to assist, means everything makes sense. The fact that you are learning the music theory along the way with it is just amazing. I feel I am not the most academic, I am definitely more of a creative and I thought I may struggle with a written book to learn, rather than hands on, but this is as I say, so well done and I am really enjoying it so far. I have learnt a lot already. Highly recommend. Review: A great starting point for your journey towards becoming a piano player. - I was pleased when I recently received this book as a gift. It is comprehensive, well presented, and, obvious to me, the author's labour of love. I should emphasise that the course of lessons it contains are most definitely aimed at the absolute beginner. In other words this first book, volume one of a two book series, is designed for a person that has no prior experience of either playing the piano or sight reading music. If this exactly describes you then it might be perfect for you. I should point out that this does not best describe me, as I received my copy when I had already been learning to play the piano for almost a year. Plus I have been able sight read music for quite a while longer. That said, because I'm a relatively recent beginner, I think I'm still well placed to recommend this book for absolute beginners because of my personal learning experiences. Even though I'm not an absolute beginner, I can still say that I have enjoyed reading through this book, from beginning to end and sampling the lessons. Having done so, I might additionally say that I wish I'd received my copy earlier. It has provided me with a useful resourse for revision. That's because it has been compiled as a one stop shop, stock piled high, with just about everything I've previously learned but from a multitude of sources. If you are an absolute beginner, then in my opinion this book will provide you with a structured course that will enable you to make good progress rapidly; at the starting point of your journey towards becoming a piano player.

The best books for adult piano beginners - buy it!
My oh my! What a fantastic book this is! I’m60 years old, I’ve had it one week and I’ve almost finished it! I’m now at lesson 11 and can play a tune with two hands. I am amazed myself. The course is very well thought out and achievable. It’s also very well structured and very clear. Thank you so much for making it available.

A great book for the
I found this book to be a great, warm and gentle introduction to playing piano for the adult beginner Great explanations, exercises, theory, and presented in a way which re-enforces lessons learnt so that you're continuously building out a solid foundation in preparation for moving onto Vol 1. A note for UK folk, like the vast majority of books and tutorials, it uses whole/half/quarter/eighth note terminology rather than the UK-language of semibreve/minim/crotchet/quaver, but that does not detract from it being an excellent adult tutorial, but just something for you to be aware of. In addition, there is the option to join their virtual piano community of adult learners so that you're all sharing the journey 🙂

Awesome!
I have both volumes. Love the title and love the books! 😁 For adult learners who don’t have a regular piano teacher, these books are fabulous! They include a lot of detail and information (also about composers) that support the learner’s understanding and knowledge of music in general, and playing the piano. For an adult learner attending regular piano lessons, these books are great as supplementary material to reinforce the learning and understanding in between lessons. Andrea’s day by day material is really easy to follow and understand. A super resource for any adult looking to begin their musical journey 🎹🎼🎵

Excellent book. I have learned a lot in a very short time. Easy to understand, easy to follow and progress along. This book is better than my daughter’s school music book!

Piano lessons
I bought this for myself I find the notes confusing . So I am lettering them instead and it’s so much easier and more convenient and fun . Finding the letters on the keyboard mark them down. And work from them

Complet car il traite en parallèle théorie musicale et pratique au piano. De plus il est clair et très progressif et agrémenté de vidéos sur internet. Quoi de mieux pour démarrer le piano.

This instructional book is a very well written and compiled set of lessons for the beginner. It starts at the beginning with helping you to choose a piano or keyboard, and builds your knowledge day-by-day with easy to follow exercises and theory concepts. No assumptions are made which is very appreciated. Although written with the adult learner in mind, I've found that I can also go through the lessons with my 7 year old, especially with the follow-along videos that are located on the Music Mouse Studios website. One of the other neat aspects of the books are the tidbits of musical history and background information that are injected in between lessons. They're a nice break every once in a while to get more context into the lessons and instrument being learned. Overall I'd highly recommend these lessons if you're looking to go the self-learning route. Tons of content that will guide you. Volume 1 itself has 120 days worth of lessons that you can take at your own pace!

I am more in my silver ears than golden but clearly learning something new like the piano has proven more challenging for my brain than anticipated. I have been taking lessons but so far the theoretical parts, sight reading / playing coordination, and even taking the time in the mist of work life has be more challenging than anticipated. Instead of giving up I endeavored to find a companion tool to facilitate my journey in structuring in a more manageable manner and this has worked very well for me. So thank you for a book that is easily adapted to one’s pace, for it’s traditional approach to music / piano fundamentals, while embracing modern adult learning. Far more gratifying than many beginner’s options out there.

I'm still working through it, but this is a fantastic resource so far. A lot of lessons for beginners are very simple and don't really get you much further past the starting point. This book really does start from the beginning (pros and cons of picking a keyboard versus a piano) and gets you playing multiple songs by the end, but it teaches you so much in between to set you up to better understand the instrument, reading and playing music, and music in general. The lessons are split up nicely and encourage healthy learning habits. Steps are laid out very clearly, and there's stories about composers to help break things up and give you more appreciation for the music that you're playing. One of the things that games does well is teaching you something simple, using repetition to solidify it, and then bringing that concept back as part of a larger concept to make something complicated easier to learn. With the author's background in music education and gaming, I think this book uses an ideal approach to help the reader learn. It's well made and the price is quite generous, it's an easy buy in my opinion.
