Will this tell me if an aerial socket is working?

It depends on what you mean by working. When you have a bunch of aerial sockets with wires running back to a single location, you can use this tool to identify which wire goes to which location. This assumes that all wires and all sockets have no faults. If you have a socket with bad or poor reception then this tool won't help you identify what's causing the poor reception. If you have a socket with no reception at all and you can tell without doubt that you are connecting the tool to the other end of the wire running to that socket then you can identify whether there is a break in the wire or a short circuit along the length of the wire.

How many remotes actually come with it. Descriptions points to 2 & picture shows 4

It comes with 4 different coloured remotes. That light up the corresponding colours on the handheld unit.

Can this be used if you don't have access to the other end of the Coax? e.g. if you want to test if your cable pull is good before ordering broadband?

No, this isn’t a signal tester. This is used to identify the cable and requires access to both ends of the cable.

Can the coax cable be traced if the terminated end is still connected to say an amplifier. Need something where i dont have to remove all cables

Unfortunately not, this goes directly on the terminated end. I’m not sure you’ll find anything out there that can trace cables without being connected to the internal cores.

Does what it says on the tin, does not come with additional attachments

Worked a treat to identify coaxial runs. You will probably want to buy some additional end caps (only red is supplied and the device can do green/blue etc); additionally, you'll need some converters for different coaxial termination types; other than that, its reliable and does the job, simple bit of kit. Not worth a penny more than I paid for it however as its a glorified continuity meter.

Needed to test aerial co-ax to roof

There were several old co-ax cables and needed to check which the correct one was. Plugged the module into co-ax by TV, then tested the cables on the roof to find the right one.

Worked for a short time

Worked for a few weeks for checking coaxial cables. Removed batteries, stored in padded case. Came to use it 12 months later with new batteries, didn't work. Replaced with confirmed working batteries, still didn't work.

Helps you find the wire you are looking for

I know nothing about wiring but wanted to place a Wi-Fi extender in another room in the house. Fortunately there was an existing cable port in that room but it wasn’t hooked up. The Klein tool allowed a novice like me to identify the wire I needed to connect to send signal to the cable port. There was a jumble of about 8 wires that ran into a junction box from whenever the house was originally wired — without this tool I had no way of finding the one wire I needed. If I can do it, anyone can.
