Sundown

I really enjoyed the singles and performances of this band in the early noughties and decided to buy the two albums and a single as a momento. This Sundown album is full of good quality pop songs and as with many records many plays brings reward. The surprise highlight for me is a wonderful song that I just can't get enough of called 'The Day You Came'. Five stars is a tad generous but I can't find a way of giving four and a half. This album has many virtues and is often available for a bargain price. Great buy!

I knew about these kids forming a band based on Sclub7 but to think they would come out with such a good pop album like this.... It's actually quite good, and with many amazing songs that could pretty much be sang by the Sclub7, that's how good they are.

I'll start by saying this is the best pop album I've heard in a good few years. Considering I'm a 23 yr old male i'd say that's good proof that the writing team behind S club 8 are doing a great job and that people shouldn't be put off buying the music just because of the teenage faces that front it! This album is definately better than anything S Club 7 ever produced in their time, far more dancey with lots of variety and every single song being strong I'd say it's more comparable in parts to Steps than S Club. The 2 singles so far Fool No More and Sundown are far superior to the previous albums offerings and there's plenty more gems to bop to on the album such as tracks 4, 5 and 6 - Love To The Limit, Turn The Lights On and Searching for Perfection. My only criticism here is having those songs one after another makes them sound a little samey for the first few listens. Track 3, Don't Tell Me Your Sorry wouldn't sound out of place on a Liberty X album, with a sprinkling of Justin Timberlake (!) which is a big surprise after the 2 singles but it's impressive nonetheless, very mature in vocals and production. Track 7, One Thing I Know is co-written by Emma Bunton and it's easy to imagine her singing it, a very upbeat motown style song. Track 8 is my personal favourite, Sail On Through - a beautiful slow song that isn't quite a ballad thanks to it's gentle beat and has an almost haunting emotion lacing it. Track 9, Big Fun is a bouncy song with trashy lyrics and a summery beat but isn't as cheesy as you might expect and is as the title suggest, big fun! (groan) I'm a little horrified to discover the 2 best dance tracks on the album, track 10, The Day You Came and track 12, Rush have already been B-Sides on the first 2 singles which leaves little chance of them being singles themselves which is a real shame as they are fantastic with almost trancey elements to them, similar to but better than Steps You'll Be Sorry. Track 13 is another dance song, I Just Came To Dance but different in sound with stinges of Fives Let's Dance what with the synthesised vocals it's quite erratic and does make you want to dance! Very good. The 2 ballads Track 11, Pretty Boy and track 14, the male vocal Drawn To You are nice although I don't think puberty has done Calvins' voice many favours...can't fault the songs though, just the right amount of loved up crooning to compliment the album. Finally track 15 the Grease cover Tears On My Pillow is a very bouncy song despite it's sad story! Never heard it before but I like this version and if you don't like it, it's only just over 2 minutes long so you don't have to cringe for long! Overall I'm very impressed with the quality of the album and think the '8 are more than worthy of the S Club name. It's such a good album it's just a shame that the amazing songs might not get the recognition they deserve belonging to a group that a lot of people may not take seriously because of their age and therefore may be put off of buying this album. Take my advice, if you like pop, chart and dance then you won't find better this year!

I think that this album is great. I love that their new direction of music is more dance techno. Most of the songs on the album are dance. I think that it's really good that all the members have their fair chance singing in all the songs. Fool No More: The first single from the album setting the theme of the album. Great dance song. 10/10 Sundown: The second single. This song sounds like a retro song from the 80's. 10/10 Don't Tell Me You're Sorry: I really love this song. It's another great dance song. It has a 80's and R&B beat to it. 10/10 Love To The Limit: This song is okay. It's not one of my favorite songs, but it's good. 7/10 Turn The Lights On: I love this song. This is great upbeat song. Searching For Perfection: I like the song. It's another dance song. i just feel that the chorus is missing something. 7/10 One Thing I Know: This song is great. It has a kind of 50's beat to it. it reminds me a lot of "You" by S Club 7. 10/10 Sail On Through: This song sound exactly like "Only You" from their last album. When you listen to it you'll say the same thing. It's such a great song and you kinds get the feeling of sailing in the beat of the song. 10/10 Big Fun: I don't really care for this song. it's a summerish song. It's like "Automatic High" 6/10 The Day You Came: Another great dance song. It sounds like a song that ABBA would sing. 10/10 Pretty Boy: This song is a solo song sung by Stacey. It think that she really sings good in it. 10/10 Rush: The song on the Fool No More single. Another dance song. The chorus lacks some though. 9/10 I Just Came To Dance: Another dance song. I don't really care for it. 7/10 Drawn To You: Another solo song sung by Calvin. It's such a great song. It has a country and Uncle Kracker feel to it. The chorus is just amazing. Calvin fans won't be dissapointed. 10/10 Tears On My Pillow: Great remake of the original song. 10/10

ティーンなので，子供だましかと思ったのですが，楽曲は，アレンジがとても良く，そう広くない音域の子どもたちの声を上手に使っています。メロディーラインが美しく，さまざまのジャンルが用意されすばらしいです。stepsや兄貴分のSクラブ7の楽曲は，やはり大人用なのか（すきですが）いじくりまわした難しさがあります。でもSクラブ8のこのアルバムは，単純なものでもやはりメロディーが勝負だと再認識されました。とにかくいいです。

I hadnt heard of them personally before buying this. But i saw the video for their first song "Sundown" and it was pretty cool to me. So i decided to buy a single of it and their next song. I enjoyed that as well so i went and purchased "Sundown" cd. Really enjoyed it myself. It has some slower songs that i didnt really care for. But for them the dance/pop songs are where S Club 8 is much more suited for like: "Fool No More" "Sundown" "Don't Tell Me Your Sorry" "Turn The Lights On" "Big Fun" "Day You Came" "I Just Came to Dance" and my favorite on the cd "Rush" yes we know that the voices were altered on this song. It doesnt matter because the song is hot regardless with the interesting beats, the one lead, followed by a backup of it. It works out really well. The videos for songs they released were well done..with some cool choreography going on in each of them. They aren't together anymore,but even still this is cd that was in my opinion more than worth it. This review is very considering i bought this when i was over in England 3 years ago. It doesnt change the fact the cd owns and they should've had a chance to put another cd. Too many other artists are still out there doing it...and frankly they suck and i don't see it. But anyways best wishes & good luck to the guys and gals of S Club 8.

一年たつだけでこんなにも歌唱力ってUPするんだな、と感心しました。特に男子メンバーは、声変わりしても歌唱力がすごい。 残念なのは、リードーボーカルがかなり絞られたということ。1stでよく歌っていたDaisyのソロパートはほとんどなくなってしまい、Staceyが1曲ソロで歌ったり、Calvinが1曲ソロで歌ったり…グループなので、もっと一緒に歌って欲しかったです。でも、Frankieの歌声の力強くなったこと、Staceyの声がより高くなり上手くなったことなどをじっくり聞くことができます。 1.FoolNoMore…FrankieとRochelleしかソロパートがありません。歌詞カードにはこの曲だけ、誰がどこを歌ってるかが書いてあります。 2.Sundown…サビ部分が耳から離れません。Stacey、Frankie、Calvinだけソロパートあり。Frankieの声がちょっと変わったみたいに聞こえます…歌詞が綺麗です。 3.Don'tTellMeYour'reSorry…めずらしく、R&B調な曲で、DaisyとHannah以外全員ソロパートあり。 4.LoveToTheLimit…女子はHannah以外ソロパートがあり、Daisyも歌ってます！ディスコサウンドが強い、アップテンポなナンバー。 7.OneThingIKnow…UKポップの原点ともいえる、明るいナンバー。男子全員ソロパートあり。ファーストアルバムを思い出します。 8.SailOnThrough…静かなポップナンバー。女子のみです。ファーストアルバムの「OnlyYou」を思い出します。 9.BigFun…トロピカルな感じのアップビートにのせた、爽やかなポップ。男子はJayのみ、女子はHannahとDaisy以外にソロパートあり。ちなみに女の子と男の子のささやき声みたいなのはDaisyとAaronによるものです。笑 10.TheDayYouCame…サビが耳から離れない、ディスコサウンド。Frankieの歌唱力UPに驚きました。 11.PrettyBoy…Staceyのソロ曲といっても過言ではないくらいで、コーラスすらStaceyの声中心です。静かなバラードっぽいポップ。 12.Rush…最初の女子の声が綺麗で、男子全員ソロパートあり。大人っぽいディスコミュージックです。 13.IJustCameToDance…これぞUKダンスチェーンって感じで、Frankie→Aaron→Rochelle→Staceyの順にソロパート。 14.DrawnToYou…Calvinしか歌ってないみたいですが、コーラスにはみんな参加してます。最後のほうにはStaceyのボーカルも。 SClub8の成長を存分に感じることのできるすばらしいアルバムです！！！
