Here is the way to alter it. Just search Youtube: "catgenie 120 sanisolution cartridge refill kit". You can install a module which can work around the cartridge chip reader, so your machine can work without cartridge.

I don't know the ingredients. FYI if you're going to try to refill the cartridge with a homemade solution it won't work. There is a chip in the cartridge that prevents operation after a set number of uses. For instance, a 120 usage cartridge will only work 120 times.

In reality the product does not cost $4.99. It really cost 29.99 plus tax
