how long do the batteries in the console last?

The batteries do not last very long. When the display is first activated with new batteries, the display is OK, but within 24 hours, the display was so dim that you could hardly see it. This may have been faulty unit. I sent it back and got a refund.

Can I Customize the name of each sensor

No. I put tiny labels on the bezel, BY = Back Yard, G = Garage, etc.
