Really sturdy - lots of storage space and very durable.
My kids' school is flippin' stupid. Middle and elementary school: NO BACKPACKS ALLOWED IN CLASS! Bulky zipper binders that are cumbersome to use in comparison? OK! Every kid now has a chromebook they're REQUIRED to carry to/from home and every class (don't get me started on "why can't they just do work on paper like we always have?"). The dilemma for us was:1. Separate protective case for the chromebook = more bulk to carry; but we don't want it to get damaged2. Teachers require 2" or 3" binders for EVERY individual class - take to/from locker every day along with main folder/binder and chromebook3. Losing any of this stuff4. Wasted time going to/from locker to exchange 2"/3" binders in between each class. This zipper binder solved just about every problem we had. The outside front rounded shaped zipper pocket fits his chromebook (very snug, but it works great). The interior has a place for each subject to have it's own expanding folder - with tabs! So yay! No carrying 5-6 different 2"/3" inch binders to/from the locker for every subject. The idea behind that is they get packets they're working on in class. They need to come back every day in class with them so they can continue to work on them. When they finish, the teachers tell them to "hang on to them in your binders FOR REVIEW in the future." Which is BS - they've almost never pulled any of this nonsense out to review it later. Instead it bulks up that additional binder and trashes the kid's locker. So our policy has become: Keep it in the expanding folder for that subject and go to/from class with it on your person everyday without having to go to your locker. When you've COMPLETED the packet, bring it home and we use our PDF scanner to scan every page into a PDF document which we then both place on his chromebook AND upload to his school cloud account. Bam! It's now always with him, accessible "for review," and it's even CTRL+F searchable for keywords! No more carrying those stupid extra binders around. If the teachers have an issue with this, they can stuff it!So the expandable folders inside are great! Also, the pouch with the netting and zipper are great as well. The kids are no longer supposed to have phones with them in school - or at least in class. Well, given the tragedies that have gone on in schools you're not going to tell me I can't give my child a way to reach out to me directly if they need to. Stuff it on that too. The netted zipper pouch is great for stashing a black colored phone so it can't be seen. Each day we check the kids phone to make sure the ringer is on vibrate and the sounds are set to OFF for notifications. My child strictly adheres to the NO PHONE USE policy we set for them, knowing the moment they break that, the phone will be found and taken away and they won't get away with having it on their person in the future. So a secret it has remained, without issue. The giant 3 rings hold plenty of other things... the day planner his school gives him to track things in, additional paperwork, spare notebook paper (of which they almost never use anymore...) and it holds his colored pencil pouch. With this one binder we carry everything he needs in one solid package. Which is funny because it's the same darn thing as a flippin' backpack - but shaped differently. Well, it doesn't carry his violin. So it gets low marks for missing on that. Just kidding. Haha.We bought the "Case It" in the past and this is superior to it. I got online today to buy a new one for him just so we didn't have it falling apart a month into the school year - but looking at the binder from last year, it's still in really great shape! I'm just worried if it does break for some reason partly through the school year that Amazon will no longer carry this. So maybe I should buy a second to have on hand just in case... Oh the dilemma of 1st world problems.Get this binder. It's amazing.

Perfect for college....Or work....
Got this for my son for college. He uses this instead of his backpack unless he has to take his laptop to class. Extremely rugged, lots of storage, and the folders are a nice touch. The three ring binder part is holding up really well, and those are usually one of the first points of failure in a zippered binder. Overall I am impressed enough that I kind of want one for myself for work.

Sturdy and huge…but has limits! (Edited 5/21/24)
My middle schooler is required to have a binder for school (backpacks not allowed in class). We bought a popular name brand 2” binder, and the zipper died on DAY ONE (ugh). We think it was a quality issue exacerbated by just how much stuff the school was having him force into it…it just couldn’t take it. So, I looked for a 3” version, and found this. It is expensive, but seemed to check all the boxes (large, durable, shoulder strap). Well, we are in week 5 with this binder and it is still going strong! Looks like new and has already had so much abuse.I like the outside pocket where he can keep his school iPad, because if the zipper does fail for any reason, it won’t just clunk out onto the floor. That same pocket also accommodates his TI calculator and a small book. He likes the pockets and various loops/holders all around the binder. If he takes a larger book to school, it’s roomy enough for him to throw it into the main compartment without a problem. The Velcro closure for the interior accordion pockets is perfect- keeps it nice and tight, and his boxes of markers and colored pencils fit well in there (it’s ridiculous the stuff he has to carry around all day). I bought some heavy duty carabiner clips for the outside loops, so he can attach his water bottle for the days he has Phy Ed.The only issue I have with this is the same reason I like it…it’s HUGE. I had surprised him with an expensive Naruto backpack that he was dying to have for middle school, but because the carry handle on this is so beefy, and the binder itself is wide, we can barely fit it in his backpack, let alone adding else he needs. So, that is something to consider. Also, with durability apparently comes…weight. This binder is fairly heavy. Once you add in 1 or 2 books, a large iPad, calculator, markers, pencils, loose leaf paper, a planner, folders, schoolwork, etc, it adds up quickly. My son is big for his age and he says he’s fine, but I could never see my tiny daughter putting up with it.All in all, I highly recommend this for its durability and overall capacity. This was clearly designed for a rugged environment. Just be thoughtful about who is using it, and how. The size and weight could be a negative factor depending on the user.EDIT - Nov 15, 2023: This binder is still going strong after many weeks of use and tons of homework. No issues with the handle, strap, zipper, internal pockets, anything…all are in perfect working order! So my recommendation still stands!EDIT - May 21, 2024: The main carry handle finally gave up the ghost yesterday. Maybe my son just yanked too hard, but he did say that it was starting to unravel a few days earlier, and he admitted to carrying the binder by the handle most of the time, and not by the shoulder strap. So, the handle has been bearing all the weight this whole time, and lately, he’s been keeping up to 6 additional books (why???) in the binder, so it’s very heavy. I bought a curved needle to sew the handle back on, since there’s only three weeks of school left, but wanted to post an update here to show that with a heavy load and good amount of abuse from a 12-yr-old boy, you MIGHT make it through one school year! Best of luck to you all.

Durable and Strong
Zippers are easy to slide while being tough enough to stand abuse. Love the design on the outside!

Middle School necessity
My 11yo son needed it. It works well, zipper and all. Big enough for his class and to carry his school computer. Love the black color and the shoulder strap.
