Contigo Cortland 2.0 24oz. Water Bottle with AUTOSEAL® Lid

First, to be clear, these water bottles are not meant for carbonated beverages. They are EXCELLENT for water, and staying hydrated. I go everywhere with my Contigo water bottle.... and I'm not exaggerating. My husband and I have been using them for many years. I wouldn't get anything else. They are durable, and look nice, and come in a variety of colors. They don't leak, which is a double plus for me since I place them in my art bags. I certainly don't want my watercolor journal getting wet! No plastic taste. BPA free. No messy straws to clean. One handed drinking, just press the button with your index finger to release the water.

I hate most chug lids that don't allow air to escape elsewhere, and I hate straws with a passion (I do not have the energy to try to suck water out when I'm working out and breathing hard), so I was looking for a design with an auto spout like I used to have on the water bottle I lost a few years ago. I also like large capacity water bottles because I can drink the amount of water I need in a day without having to refill it every five seconds. I'm a hydration freak so I go through water fast. Even with the capacity though, this does still fit on my car holder. Some cars it won't fit in, sadly, but for mine it does. I also needed an easy way to hold it with one finger so I can carry ten things like I'm always doing and not use an entire hand to grip a water bottle. This has all of that and more. It's easy to clean, dishwasher safe (I don't have a dishwasher so I just take it apart and clean in with a bottle brush), AND has the locking mechanism I always wonder why other brands didn't have. So when I'm packing it in a backpack and it tips upside down, I don't have to worry about something pressing the button and making it leak all over everything. Also love the neutral colors it comes in and it's still a decently reasonable price. The handle doesn't fall apart like my other one because it's not made of crumbly rubber, and instead is made of hard plastic and metal screws. The handle goes all the way back and pretty far forward too. The spout has a protective lid so you don't get dirt on it, and you can chug or "waterfall" as much water as you need without straining to suck water out or getting your face practically vacuum sealed to the spout for lack of air escapes. If you ever need a plastic water bottle, get THIS ONE. It is beyond perfect. It has never leaked or broken, and I'm a pretty clumsy lady. It does not have markings on the sides except for the 40oz line, and is obviously not insulative, but for me it works wonderfully. Great design.

We have 4 or 5 of these water bottles. I love that they can be locked and have a cover, and don't require a straw. I like the squeeze button mechanism. I have carpal tunnel and can't be unscrewing a lid multiple times a day. They fit in cupholders and are a good size. 24oz lasts a while but isn't so big it weighs me down. We've had some for years and they've been on many road trips and flights. Very sturdy and bonus, they don't spray you with water when you open them after pressurization on a flight. They're very good value especially if you catch a sale. I like that they don't give water a funny taste the way stainless steel can.

The Contigo 24 oz water bottle is perfect for staying hydrated without being too bulky, and the carry handle makes it easy to take along. I also like that it’s dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning simple. Overall, this is a dependable, well-designed bottle. Great for daily use, travel, or workouts, and I would definitely buy it again.

Value for your money is definitely a pro. Very sturdy, and the ease of drinking from this bottle very easy. Great color and fits well wherever I need it.

Update: I contacted Contigo's customer service at gocontigo.com. After providing a PDF receipt from my Amazon purchase, along with some photos of the defective bottle, they sent me a new bottle free of charge. This new one does not leak; I have used it daily for a week now with both hot and cold beverages and have had no problems. Still disappointed about the volume markings, but that's no big deal. As to my concerns about being BPA free, customer service wrote: "No worries, our research lab spends countless hours developing safe, innovative drinkware products that are designed for everyday use. All materials and end products that we use are approved and tested to applicable food contact laws. All of our water bottles are BPA and BPS free, Phthalate-free and Latex-free. Many are also made from FDA approved Eastman Tritan. Eastman Tritan is far more durable than a traditional plastic and helps resist against stains and odors. Our gaskets are made from high-quality, durable, food-safe silicone and are BPA-free. Validation that this plastic is BPA-free is supported by robust testing by independent third-party accredited laboratories. Your health and safety are of the utmost concern to us. I was very pleased with the level of customer service that I received from the agent. ___ Original review [one star]: As a replacement for my Camelbak I bought this Contigo 24 ounce bottle, licorice color. Terrible decision. I love the design of the cap but it fails in its most basic obligation--it leaks. I use this bottle for my coffee; I put in the sugar and cream, then the coffee. I screw on the cap and shake it and it spills all over. I make sure the button is locked; I make sure not to push the button; I make to screw the cap on very tightly and I flip the spout cover closed. None of this matters, though, as the coffee comes out through the spout. Another negative is that I wanted a BPA free product. The Amazon page states that both the lid and the bottle are BPA free, but nowhere on the bottle or the lid is there text that reads that. Did I get what I paid for? I don't know; I have no way of knowing if this is BPA free. As for the measurement, I liked that my Camelbak had lines for 8, 16 and 24 ounces. This bottle only has a line at 24. Finally, nowhere in the Amazon page does it warn that this bottle is only for cold or room temperature liquids. It is only after you receive it that you learn it is not supposed to be used with hot liquids. I thought 8,000+ reviews meant a pretty solid product, especially with so many stars. This has been a complete waste of almost $20. I will contact the vendor and see what can be done, otherwise it will go in the recycling bin.
