desertcart.com: The Doctor (Nashville Neighborhood): 9780998315188: Sloane, Nikki: Books Review: Finally- I read a book with true doctor kink in it - I’ve been craving a Doctor kink book for months now. I’ve read a few books with a doctor H, but this one really brought in the Doctor kink, and more than once- chef’s kiss in the kinky doc department 👏🏻. Cassidy is 19, almost 20, and has been in a relationship with her boyfriend for a few years now, but things have gone stale. They rarely see each other and don’t have a meaningful connection like they used to have. For a while now, Cassidy has been seeing her boyfriend’s dad in a different light, in a more carnal light. Dr. Greg Lowe is 40 and a very busy man; as a trauma surgeon, he’s on call a lot and doesn’t have time to be in a relationship or even to see women casually. Either way, he’s been interested in Cassidy for a while, but she’s his son’s girlfriend, so she’s obviously off limits, until she’s not 😈. Cassidy breaks up with Preston, but when she does it, he doesn’t take her seriously. He leaves to go to work in the middle of this conversation, again, not prioritizing their relationship or what she has to say. But guess who’s home when Preston leaves- yup, his father 😉. When Cassidy tells Greg that she and Preston broke up, they can’t help but indulge in the chemistry that’s constantly sizzling around them. The kiss they share is enough to solidify their connection, so when she comes back a week and a half later and gets brushed off by Preston yet again (she went to once again confirm that she was serious and they’re not together), all bets are off- let the sexy time begin 🔥🥵. The secretive rendezvous was delicious🤤… although they hesitate (for obvious reasons) they can’t help gravitating towards their baser, primal instincts of being intimate and having lots of smex😅. True, Cassidy isn’t a v, but Preston was a selfish enough lover that she never knew what true passion was like, until Greg showed her exactly what she’s been missing 🥵🔥😅. It’s primal, raw, passionate, and even emotional when they have sex. He becomes such a delicious alpha and she melts every time. And the kink I was missing in the other Doctor books comes out 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Not only in his office 🥵 but at home too 😉😅💦🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤. I very much enjoyed all the fantasies they recreated🔥🔥🔥. Although they’re basically 20 years apart, I still found their HEA believable ❤️. Plus, he was always about her, even towards the end when things get tough and decisions have to be made. I looooved it! ⚠️safety squad⚠️ -no cheating/owd -mild omd- well, the h was with the H’s son in the beginning 😬. They kiss, but this is all before the H and h are together -om2 hits on the h, but she shuts him down quickly and the H rescues her from the situation -ow has been sending baked goods to the H in order to get him to notice her- he doesn’t and isn’t remotely interested- and then she catches the H and h in a compromising position (she’s his neighbor and she was being a creeper by trespassing and watching them through a window) but the H puts her in her place 💅he’s all about the h -the H and h’s mom see each other at the store and the h’s mom overhears the H asking for restaurant recs in order to take his gf out- the mom tells the h about this “girlfriend” of his and h thinks the worst, but the H was talking about her the whole time 🙈 Review: 3.5 - Good, but I struggled to root for these characters - The Doctor was a steamy read featuring an age-gap romance with the slightly taboo/forbidden relationship trope of ex-boyfriend's father/son's ex-girlfriend. At the start of the book, the FMC is in an unsatisfying/unfulfilling relationship and admires her boyfriend's father's appearance. Once the relationship comes to an end, however, she almost immediately pivots to exploring the forbidden fruit of her attraction to his dad who's feeling her just as much as she feels him. Their initial physical attraction does carry the first half of the novel (with a pretty lengthy first-time hook-up scene between them), but the emotional connection didn't successfully build enough for me throughout the rest of the story. Beyond that, as their characters continued to develop, I found myself struggling to root for them as individuals and as a couple. This ultimately made me feel as if the promise of romance didn't fully deliver an emotionally satisfying conclusion. Don't get me wrong--the physical connection between the two character is fire and most of the scenes are great. But without the added layer of emotional heart-to-hearts, it was hard to fully understand/envision why these two work well together. At times, I felt the MMC didn't really come across as being as "adult" as he should've been, considering the repeated references to his 40-year-old-ness. In some ways, this could potentially lend itself to explaining why their relationship works, but it was hard for me to buy into. Maybe what made it hard for me to see him as a great, heroic MMC was that he didn't come across as a particularly good father to his son and occasionally, things he said to the FMC felt manipulative--combined with a few other things, it made it even harder for me to root for him. The writing was strong, and the spicy scenes were spicy. I enjoyed the nosy neighbor playing a part in complicating things, but did find the resolution a little... too convenient and also, awkwardly forced. Still, it was a quick and pleasant read with plenty of spice. I just wish it'd delivered more heart or more angst. If I were to try to recommend books along this same theme/trope to another reader, I'd have to say that I enjoyed Katee Robert's "Your Dad Will Do" and Sara Cate's "Praise" above this one.

Get ready for all the steam.
Let's just call this a one-handed, taboo, erotica book. 'Kay? Kay. ;) Nikki Sloane is a new to me author, but I have a few of her books on my shelves and on my ereader. I thought it was time to finally read one of her books and boy, did this one have the forbidden steam. Cassidy has broken up with her boyfriend, Preston. They basically have outgrown each other. We don't really see this on page, but we are told it. Once she breaks it off, she runs into his dad, Dr Greg Lowe and he comforts her, which turns into a whole lot more right away. Ok, I'm all for the sex, but there was an abundance of it. I would've love to have seen more story and build up to get there. Perhaps more longing, angst, something. It was just a lot of sex. But man, if it wasn't hot and some really good sex. I think I was kind of jealous of this 19 year old girl getting the goods from her ex's dirty talking dad. If you like the forbidden (ex's dad) with a whole lot of steam and not much story, this book will satisfy your needs. It's a quick read and it's hot. I just wanted more story from them to make me believe that they really liked each other for more than sex. With that said, I will be back to read more of the Nashville Neighborhood books.

High-heat age-gap romance -- heavy on the sex, but also with a real heart (warning: minor spoilers)
This is the first Nikki Sloane book I've read, and I highly enjoyed it. I'm partial to age-gap romances, which I realize are not to everyone's taste. This is a short book and a fast read; in 40-year-old Dr. Greg Lowe and Cassidy, who turns 20 in the course of the story, Ms. Sloane has succeeded in creating a fully developed and sympathetic hero and heroine. The novel is told entirely through Cassidy's first-person POV, so we get a lot of Cassidy's internal monologue, struggles, and conflict. Nevertheless, we also glean a lot of what's going on from Greg's perspective through sharp, realistic, and often emotionally powerful dialogue. There is a "taboo" angle in that Greg is the father of Cassidy's ex-boyfriend Preston, and that they commence their relationship rather quickly after her breakup with Preston. However, the Cassidy-Preston relationship had been going south for some time (pretty much entirely Preston's fault; he's been ignoring a lot of the time except when he wants to have sex with her; he's not a very sympathetic character for most of the story, but, by the end, the reader gets some insight into his struggles with Greg's negligence due to Greg's workaholism when Preston was a child; and Greg's effort to repair the relationship with quality fatherhood now). Several previous reviewers have complained that Cassie is immature. i don't entirely agree. I don't mean to seem ageist, but she doesn't strike me as particularly immature for a 19-20-year-old. She is relatively inexperienced in matters of the heart, to be sure, and perhaps "green" or naive in a couple of other ways emotionally, but I find her to be reasonably intelligent and sensitive. She strikes me as caring genuinely about both Preston, even after she breaks up with him and when she's angry with him, and about Greg. Even though I'm a guy, I find her quite relatable in terms of stuff I dealt with when I was in my late teens and twenties. Ultimately, she has two particularly important qualities for a good romance heroine: she's assertive and she knows what she wants. Another repeated criticism of this book is that Ms. Sloane succeeds in developing a powerful physical connection between Greg and Cassidy but little or no real emotional connection. I disagree. While it is true that the love/sex scenes comprise roughly 50% of the text (if that's not your thing, I'd advise that you skip this one); the sex scenes are quite potently written; they flow well and capture them in an intimate way. In addition to the usual activites such as mutual oral sex and vaginal intercourse, Ms. Sloane maximizes the erotic potential of mutual musturbation. Greg also devises a creative solution for Cassie and his mutual pleasure when they're faced with an unplanned separation on their date night. (I won't spoil it, but it's pretty hot). There's an appropriately handled (that is, lube + enthusiastic consent) anal scene that works on an emotional as well as physical level in terms of deepening the trust between the two partners. With all that carnal knowledge being exchanged, Ms. Sloane still makes space for real emotional intimacy between Cassidy and Greg. As is essential in any true erotic romance, all the love/sex scenes include emotional moments/aspects/romances that involve either bringing the couple closer emotionally or, in some cases, dividing them emotionally. Ms. Sloane accomplishes this in The Doctor. These are also good emotional exchanges outside the bedroom scenes in this novel, including a point that might be termed the story's "black moment," that demonstrated to me, at least, that Cassidy and Greg are truly in love, not just in love, with each other, so much so that it hurts. These scenes actually brought close me to tears. If you like this combination of elements and tropes, and a fast, entertaining read, I highly recommend The Doctor.

The Ex’s Dad
I have kind of an obsession with age gap books, which is funny cause I don’t really love it in real life, but hey that’s what books are for. There is also a trope in this book that I really like, a relationship with the ex’s father. It’s just a recipe for drama and angst, and I feel like this book delivered on the drama and angst. I liked Cassidy, I could identify with her from when I was younger. She really just wants to be wanted, to be someone’s first choice, to be made a priority for someone else. She’s also at that point in her life where she is trying to figure out what she wants and who she is, but isn’t necessarily thought of as an full grown woman by her family. Been there. Greg, is her ex’s father. Who doesn’t exactly have the best relationship with his son. And of course you know getting into a secret relationship with his son’s ex is not going to help the dynamic between father and son. You know it’s going to blow up. And it’s probably going to be epic. Greg is a decent guy a think. He wasn’t a great father because he was a father to young, but he is trying to make up for it now. He’s a doctor, who seems like a good one. He’s also good to Cassidy. There is a lot of angst in this book, and really angsty towards the end. There is a great scene in the hospital that really kicked me in my guts, which of course I love. Book that make me feel are great. Important points of this book are that it’s a decently spicy book, its a secret romance so look for sneaking around, there’s some heartbreak, and a satisfying end. It’s a easy reread for me.

A steamy taboo romance!
I can hardly believe this is the first book I have ever read by Nikki Sloane. I have quite a few books of hers on my TBR and I cannot wait to get to all of them. Her writing in The Doctor is erotic and extremely steamy. Cassidy is a 19 year college student that has been with her boyfriend Preston for 3 years. The book begins with Cassidy realizing that he has never really felt the same way for her as she does him. He seems to be using her and is never there for her when she truly needs him. So, she decides to end her relationship with him. Enter Preston's father, Dr. Greg Lowe. As Cassidy is leaving the house a moment occurs between them that she cannot get out of her head. I was intrigued by Dr. Greg Lowe immediately. He has a mysterious edginess about him and needed to know more instantly to the point that I had wished this was written in dual POV. Unfortunately, this missed the mark for me for a few reasons. One, although there was chemistry between these two I was missing an emotional connection. Two, Cassidy was slightly on the immature side. Three, this is a HUGE age gap for me. 20 years is HUGE! Four, the erotic scenses were A LOT. I needed more storyline that just that. The two defintely knew how to play out their fantasies. Regardless I am glad I read this book as I think it was a good intro to the series and I am really looking forward to The Pool Boy releasing August 11th. I also hope Nikki will write Cassidy's best friend Lilth's story soon, too.

SO MUCH STEAM!!🥵🔥🖤
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5 🔥🔥🔥🔥.5/5 “If it was supposed to be wrong, why the hell did it feel right?" Cassidy has known Dr. Lowe for years. Watched as he rushed to the hospital to save lives. For years she denied her attraction to him, for years she ignored the way he made her feel. But she’s tired of hiding her feelings, and so is he. He has promised to fulfill her fantasies, every dirty, nasty, and naughty desire they can think of. But there’s a problem, he’s her ex-boyfriend’s father. They can never be together. Right? “You’re a great girl, Cassidy, and frankly, you deserve more than my son can give right now.” “You want to hear about my fantasies, Cassidy? Because there are a lot, and they are very, very bad.” Nikki Sloane has really outdone herself with the sexy scenes in this book. I wanted to start by saying that, while there is A LOT of sex in this book, it is not all sex. There is also a really good plot and storyline. This is an Age-Gap romance between Cassidy, and her ex-boyfriends dad, Greg (AKA Dr. Lowe) (Or Dr. Daddy if you ask her best friend Lilith). I feel like these two transition from Father/Son’s Girlfriend to two people who have unbelievable chemistry. Despite their age difference, these two have a lot in common and I feel like they just clicked. This book would be perfect for fans of Birthday Girl or Your Dad Will Do. This was the first book I've read from this author and she did not disappoint. I will most definitely be reading more books from this author.

First Off, I Don’t Have Daddy Issues
First of all I want to preface this by saying I do NOT have daddy issues. This usually isn’t my favorite trope when the FMC is below like 25 because it gives off more of a pedo vibe than love interest and I usually don’t like romance books that have smut right off the rip since there’s no build up. HOWEVER the writing in this is a 12/10 I was engaged the entire time. The scenes were SO VIVID and the perfect amount of spice and description. I didn’t feel like the MMC was creepy or grooming her in anyway - I actually loved the way he yearned for her (NOT JUST LUSTED). I read this book in 3 hours and I was not disappointed. The twist? Not so great, the climax? PERFECT, the ending? Excellent conclusion AND NOT THE TYPICAL THEY GET ENGAGED/MARRIED. Very much a feel good story 🤌🏻
