Should i turn off protein skimmer and carbon?

I tried it & was unsuccessful in treating ick. Had to remove fishes to qt. tank & had to leave fallow for 6-10 wks. You can try it, with protein skimmer off & no carbon running. Do water changes afterwards, set skimmer to low skim (lots of foam) & add carbon afterwards for about 1 week & then remove. Good luck!
