High-quality exceeded expectations
This is definitely worth the money. The quality of it is amazing. The functionality of it is also really good. I have never used one before, but this one is really easy to use in the accuracy of it is excellent. Definitely worth the money and would recommend to someone else who’s in a search of one.

Take a little getting use to but once you learn it is ...
Update: Taking off a star due to a quality issues that have come up after having it for just over a month. The little screws that hold the clinometer on will loosen and fall out with just the simple vibrations of walking. Lost one and found the other in the case. Looking to solve the problem. Will update with solution for others who need it. Also, the case, while it looked and felt like good quality when I got it is already looking ragged. Will be replacing it with a leather case. Was a little hesitant about this hybrid compass but once I got it and learned to use it, it is an excellent addition to my camping/backpacking/hiking gear. Is it heavy? Very much so. But being able to have the sighting ability of a lensatic compass and able to use it like a orienteering compass is worth the weight.

Now I Don't Feel So Lost
I've recently been touring around the Southern Hemisphere, close to the other side of the Equator and realized that I have become disoriented. The Sun is not where it used to be for me in the North Hemisphere, the Big Dipper is well below the horizon and now out of my sight, there are no trees here to speak of and most winter skies are heavy overcast so I can't see the Sun or the Southern Cross. So, I tried out Google Maps, also downloaded a number of compass apps on my cell, and found out quickly that those apps are the worst on battery consumption and data usage. Great! Now I get a bigger phone bill for the data, my cell is constantly out-of-juice, no one speaks English here, and my translator is on my dead phone. Not only am I still disoriented but also feeling like "easy pickings" for the bad guys, can't call the police on my dead cell and wouldn't know what or how to say what I needed. So, I decided to purchase a dedicated magnetic compass. Actually I bought two, the Eyeskey and another one from a different seller. The Eyeskey is heavy, chunky and I love it. The other is slimmer but very heavy for its size. They both show North in the same direction. The money I save on data charges will pay for these two items quickly. Also, I can tether both devices to a couple of lanyards to make a bola to keep the "bad guys" at bay while I practice Spanish with the police on my cell phone now that I have a lot more battery life. Bottom line: For me, there is no replacement for a well-made, real magnetic compass that does not require batteries or the annoying, constant calibrations. The Eyesky I bought is a well-made multi-tool I can rely on 24/7 and it does what it says in the product description. It came with a heavy-duty, military type canvas bag to wear on the belt. The packaging was great with no harm to the other items shipped along from Amazon.

Military grade compass gift for a young cub scout
We bought this military grade compass for our six year old grandchild who is a very outdoor kind of guy. He'll get a lot of opportunity in the Colorado mountains to practice finding targets with the help of his father that just happens to be a Major in the U.S. Army. This compass is heavy metal that will last a long time. The magnetic dial actually floats in a liquid and rotates quickly to the "North" position. It has a magnifier lens on it that enlarges the smaller numbers around the dial. After his father shows him a few tricks, he'll be using it easily. We wanted to gift him something that he'll be proud of for a long time. His dad agreed it was a good value for the money, too.

Did not make it through the first day-broken
First off, this is not a military grade compass. It looks like one, but the bezel on a military compass ratchets 3 degrees each click-this one does not. This bezel is difficult to operate-almost frozen. It has to be stiff to preserve your reading. Hopefully it will loosen with time, but not too much. It came with a "Clinometer"- a pendulum that measures inclines. The metal Clinometer is held in place by two small screws, one of which has fallen out, the other nearly so making the Clinometer useless. I don't know that I would use it- most of the time it's in the way. When closed the Clinometer blocks the compass window - you must open the compass or use the eyepiece The instructions do not clearly describe how to use the compass. The print is small but readable from my armchair-probably worthless on the trail. The "aiming line" is very narrow- hard to see- I use the notch and the handy eyepiece. The chart on the back is undecipherable. Otherwise it feels solid - easy to sight and balance. The level bubble and eyepiece are welcome additions. It comes with a lanyard and a belt mount thin pouch. Delivery was very fast. We are not serious hikers, however recently, after several hours of hiking, we came to a sign welcoming us to a park we thought we'd never left. I expected more for my money from this compass and got less.
