Does this item come pre-calibrated? Will you be able to provide document on the calibration?

No, it doesn't come with pre-calibration. I just checked it with a calibrated one.

What kind of batteries do these calipers use?

Copy and paste this - 50 357 Alkaline Watch Batteries LR44 AG13 SR44W Battery - for a lot of 50 battery cells that work for this Caliper.

can i use this to measure screws? i mixed up a bunch of screws in a bag and have no idea what size is which.

Yes, however you might benefit by using a thread checker instead. It is difficult to determine thread pitch using calipers. Thread checkers work when you thread a screw into the checker or a nut onto it. This has the advantage of sorting the 8mm screws and nuts from the 5/16" screws and nuts. It also allows you to determine if a screw or nut is a #12 SAE as opposed to a 1/4" SAE screw or nut.

are these tips hardened? Thanks

Yes, the tips are hardened so they don't flex and dull out.
